Paytm to gift iPad Air to 150 employees

obile wallet firm Paytm is gifting an iPad Air to around 150 employees as a means to expressing its gratitude for their services.

Employees who have worked with the company for five years and more across all levels, divisions and functions like operations, finance and administration will be rewarded with iPads at the Noida-headquartered Paytm, which employs about 4,500 people.

"These employees are good performers. That's why they have stayed with us," said Amit Sinha, vice-president-business and people at Paytm. "It makes sense to reward people who have grown with the organization. In a startup scenario, there is pressure and people expect quick results. Success does not come overnight and we are here for a game changing business, which will be built over years. We want our employees to build their stories and careers with us as we go along

Paytm, which got approval for a payment bank in October, acquired online marketplace for hyperlocal services Near.in this week in a cash and stock deal estimated at $1.5-2 million. In September, Paytm received $680 million in funding from Alibaba Group and its affiliate Ant Financial.

The company is gifting employees a silver iPad Air with 16GB of data.

Paytm had earlier told ET that it has set aside a $3-4 million kitty this year, besides the usual compensation and variable pay, for its top performing employees. Last year, this kitty was $1 million. Paytm also said it will expand its employee stock option plans (Esops) pool, offering esops to around 1,200 employees this year as against

Long ago I was a man of SmugMug, and then Flickr, and then at some point spent days and days copying years of images to iCloud Photo Library before eventually disregarding that and switching to Google. What can I say? I’m a simple person who can be easily delighted and swayed by automatic GIF creation and reliable backups. And Google Photos keeps getting better. Here’s the latest example: now the mobile app can automatically stabilize videos in your camera roll with a tap. A lot of flagship smartphones offer optical image stabilization when shooting video, a hardware feature that helps keep footage smooth. Others, like Google’s Pixel, use software to try and stabilize jerky movements. Putting stabilization inside the Google Photos app could enhance results further if you’re already working with hardware OIS, or improve recordings significantly if your phone lacks any means of steadying things out of the box.
